Surprise surprise, I've finished my Windows
Media 8 Encoding guide! It includes some recommended encoding
settings and instructions on frameserving to the Windows Media 8 Encoding
Utility.
In addition, I updated the Software
page again and made other minor adjustments to various pages on the site.

Microsoft just released version 7.1 of Windows Media
Encoder. It now supports Windows Media 8, but it doesn't appear to
support variable bitrate video. Therefore, you'll have to continue using
the command line encoding utility for the best quality. The link to the
new encoder is on my Software page.
I've also added a link to the trail version of the Morgan
Multimedia MJPEG codec to the Software page.
The trial version does expire, but it doesn't place a watermark in your video
like the PICVideo codec.

First of all, I made some minor revisions to the Interlacing
page. Secondly, I've started to work on a section about encoding in
Windows Media 8. Actually, it's mostly just in my head right now, but at
least I know what to say. When I find the time and motivation, I'll see
what I can do about writing it up.

Hooray! I've finally updated the site! As promised
long ago, there are new noise reduction filter settings on both of my video
processing pages. In addition, I did some site maintenance and updated
some images to reflect the changes in VirtualDub 1.4d.
